En Centro de Innovación Sur CeTA/UFRO se realizará “Día de Planta Abierta”

- Con el apoyo de Corfo, CeTA instalará el Centro de Innovación Norte en las dependencias pesqueras de la empresa Orizon en Coquimbo.
- La planta, cuya inauguración está programada para el segundo semestre 2020, estará destinada a valorizar productos y subproductos marinos, incorporando materias primas agropecuarias en una segunda etapa.
En Coquimbo, se presentó la iniciativa conjunta de Orizon y CeTA (Centro Tecnológico para la Innovación en Alimentos), apoyada por Corfo, que dotará a la macrozona norte del primer Centro de Innovación especializado en alimentos, instalado en el sector de La Pampilla. Esto permitirá impulsar el emprendimiento, incorporando infraestructura para agregar valor a las materias primas.
La ceremonia de inicio de la instalación contó con la presencia del vicepresidente ejecutivo de Corfo, Pablo Terrazas; el Intendente subrogante, Gonzalo Chacón, además de otras autoridades regionales, académicos, ejecutivos de empresas y emprendedores de la zona vinculados al rubro alimentos.
En la ocasión, Pablo Terrazas destacó que “generar productos únicos e innovadores mejora la calidad de vida de los chilenos y le da un gran valor a nuestro país en el mundo. Por eso para Corfo es fundamental potenciar la innovación en una industria tan prioritaria como la alimentaria. Es una gran noticia para toda la zona norte de nuestro país la instalación de este centro que, al igual que el de la zona centro y sur, apoyará a todas aquellas empresas y emprendedores que quieran cumplir el sueño de incorporar más tecnología a sus productos, sofisticarlos y potenciar su alcance. Hoy trabajamos para que proliferen estas iniciativas público-privadas que van en beneficio directo de nuestra sociedad”.
Rigoberto Rojo, gerente general de Orizon, destacó que Las personas que se beneficiarán del proyecto podrán contar con infraestructura y capacidad instalada para escalar ideas y emprendimientos en etapas iniciales. “Si bien nosotros como Orizon buscamos ser el motor de esta iniciativa, esperamos que sean las propias personas quienes lleven los desarrollos a otros niveles para beneficiarse a sí mismas, generando valor y contribución de largo plazo”.
Por su parte, Jean Paul Veas, director ejecutivo de CeTA,se refirió a la importancia de descentralizar la innovación en alimentos, “dotando a la Región de Coquimbo y zonas aledañas de una infraestructura que va a permitir que emprendedores, pymes e instituciones puedan prototipar, pilotear y escalar en fase inicial sus productos. Es una gran oportunidad también de generar Economía Circular, con subproductos de la industria local, concretamente de la pesca y la acuicultura en una primera etapa, incorporando subproductos agropecuarios posteriormente”.
El gobernador Gonzalo Chacón, en tanto, en su calidad de Intendente Subrogante, destacó los atributos de la zona: “Nuestra región tiene un potencial enorme, que debemos seguir desarrollando. Es por ello que este centro va a ayudar muchísimo a los emprendedores, porque irán aprendiendo más y mejor acerca de sus negocios y generarán valor agregado en sus productos, haciéndolos más competitivos y modernos. Queremos que llegue el desarrollo, de forma responsable y segura”.
Alimentos con valor agregado
La instalación del Centro de Innovación Norte de CeTA se une a las iniciativas que se han desarrollado en la Región de Coquimbo en el marco del Programa Estratégico Regional MásMar para agregar valor a los productos y subproductos de origen marino. De este modo, la infraestructura y capacidades técnicas proporcionadas por la nueva planta permitirán superar las brechas existentes y concretar proyectos de innovación.
El Centro de Innovación Norte de CeTA funcionará a partir de una planta de 967 mts2 perteneciente a la empresa Orizon. En su primera fase, operará con una línea de conservas para productos y subproductos marinos, que incluirá zona de almacenamiento, cámara de refrigeración, 2 marmitas de 200 litros y máquina llenadora de latas (y a futuro, de frascos); además, contará con una línea de pastas untables, que incorporará equipamientos tales como marmita de 100 litros, cutter de 100 litros, molino coloidal de 20 l/hora y tamices. Tanto la línea de conservas como la de pastas tendrán equipamiento de esterilización y etiquetado.
Para determinar las necesidades de la Región de Coquimbo, se está realizando un levantamiento de las demandas, en especial de las zonas rezagadas, para apoyar el emprendimiento y nuevos desarrollos para las industrias, enfocado principalmente en la economía circular y el aprovechamiento del recurso hídrico.
Respecto a este hito regional y nacional para la industria alimentaria, Graciela Urrutia, gerente del Programa Estratégico Nacional Transforma Alimentos, destacó que “el lanzamiento de este Centro de Innovación Norte, junto a la empresa Orizon, es un claro ejemplo de que la colaboración entre empresas, centros tecnológicos y sector público resulta clave para avanzar hacia una nueva etapa de desarrollo productivo de la industria, incorporando a las regiones y apoyando a sus emprendedores”.
