Con el objetivo de incorporar de forma intensiva las variables I+D+i a los procesos productivos de la industria alimentaria, el nuevo recinto busca constituirse como un centro de pilotaje y escalamiento de productos que aporte valor a iniciativas tanto de empresas como emprendedores.
Sus operaciones se inician con seis líneas de trabajo, las que irán aumentando progresivamente hasta completar 19 para el año 2023.
Santiago, 28 de julio de 2021.- Con la presencia los ministros de Economía, Lucas Palacios y de Agricultura, María Emilia Undurraga; el vicepresidente ejecutivo de CORFO, Pablo Terrazas; los rectores de la Universidad de Chile, Ennio Vivaldi, y de la Pontificia Universidad Católica, Ignacio Sánchez, y la presidenta del directorio de CeTA, Pilar Parada, hoy fue inaugurado el Centro Carén, la última iniciativa del Centro Tecnológico para la Innovación en Alimentos (CeTA), marcando un punto de inflexión para la industria de este mercado.
Con una planta de 1.065 m2, el recinto ubicado dentro del Parque Carén de la Universidad de Chile, en Pudahuel, busca constituirse como un centro de pilotaje que entregue respuestas a las crecientes necesidades de la industria de alimentos. De esta forma, emprendedores, investigadores y empresas podrán testear tecnologías de procesamiento para entregar el mayor valor agregado a las materias primas nacionales, a través de la innovación en nuevos productos.
Su estructura se basa en un diseño sustentable, de vanguardia y enfocado en la economía circular. En su primera fase, tendrá seis líneas de procesos, enfocadas al desarrollo de ingredientes a partir de materias primas agropecuarias, con foco en las necesidades y tendencias del mercado de etiqueta limpia, buscando escalar a nivel piloto los desarrollos realizados en investigación en las universidades y empresas especializadas. Para el 2023 se espera operar con 19 líneas de trabajo que abarquen las distintas necesidades del sector.
El vicepresidente ejecutivo de CORFO, Pablo Terrazas, agregó que “es un orgullo ver que hoy se inaugura el primer CeTA de la zona central, que se une al del norte y sur de nuestro país, y que contó con el apoyo de Corfo. Iniciativas como estas permiten que nuestros emprendedores, a través de la innovación, agreguen valor a sus proyectos, para así convertir a Chile en una potencia agroalimentaria de talla mundial, de cara a la reactivación sostenible de nuestra economía”.
En esta misma línea, el ministro de Economía, Lucas Palacios, destacó que “el desarrollo del país es tarea de todos y la inauguración de este centro marca un hito, porque permitirá mejorar y facilitar el acceso a la innovación, generando un espacio donde científicos y académicos podrán trabajar junto a grandes empresas, pero también de la mano de emprendedores de toda la zona central, quienes podrán conseguir ese empuje que necesitan para convertir su idea, en un negocio. Hoy vemos consolidado un proyecto que fortalecerá al rubro alimentario chileno, haciéndolo más competitivo, con productos más saludables y que dará un nuevo impulso a una industria clave para el futuro de Chile. Un país que potencia la innovación es un país más resiliente y un lugar con más y mejores oportunidades”.
Por su parte, la ministra de Agricultura, María Emilia Undurraga, señaló que “hoy concretamos un gran hito con la inauguración de este centro tecnológico, que representa además el espíritu de uno de nuestros ejes de trabajo, que es la modernización, la innovación y la competitividad, a través de una iniciativa público-privada que nace gracias al compromiso de diversos actores, incluyendo a la academia y permitiéndonos disminuir las brechas identificadas en la industria de alimentos, buscando un desarrollo más diversificado, sustentable y que contribuya al crecimiento de las exportaciones. Felicito a todos quienes han sido parte y han creído en este proyecto, que beneficiará a emprendedores y Pymes ligadas al mundo rural, agrícola y forestal, permitiendo el desarrollo de sus innovaciones, productos sanos, sustentables, con valor agregado y con un mayor aporte nutritivo”.
En tanto, el rector de la Universidad de Chile, Ennio Vivaldi, indicó que “la industria alimentaria es una de las áreas estratégicas en las que la colaboración público-privada puede mejorar la calidad de vida de la población en general. Nos enorgullece que este tipo de trabajo transdisciplinario se potencie con el nuevo Centro de Innovación del Parque Carén de la Universidad de Chile y esperamos que se vaya ampliando a cada vez más áreas”.
Por su parte, el rector de la Pontificia Universidad Católica, Ignacio Sánchez, agregó que “estamos muy contentos como universidad con la inauguración de este centro que permitirá acelerar el desarrollo innovador de alimentos con impacto global, gracias a una infraestructura de pilotaje única, a lo largo del territorio, fortaleciendo un trabajo conjunto entre la academia y el sector productivo, particularmente con pequeñas y medianas empresas”.
El Centro de Innovación Carén es la iniciativa más importante emprendida por CeTA desde su fundación. Las obras iniciadas en octubre de 2019 significaron una inversión de 59.000 UF, las que avanzaron con celeridad superando las dificultades derivadas de la pandemia, permitiendo el inicio inmediato de operaciones. Por otra parte, en equipamiento de alto estándar se han invertido hasta ahora alrededor de 400 millones de pesos.
Jean Paul Veas, director ejecutivo de CeTA, destacó este hito como el más importante en la historia de la corporación. “Con este nuevo centro, CeTA cuenta con el potencial para atender demandas no solo de empresas, sino que también iniciativas de emprendedores y proyectos de investigadores de las universidades. Esto permitirá generar un cambio sin precedentes en el ecosistema de la innovación en el rubro alimenticio nacional. Con el inicio de operaciones del Centro de Innovación Carén, CeTA consolida su rol en la industria alimentaria apuntando a fortalecer al sector como un pilar del desarrollo país”.
El Centro Tecnológico para la Innovación en Alimentos (CeTA), es una corporación originada al alero de CORFO, dependiente del Ministerio de Economía.
| Características principales Centro Carén El Centro Carén fue concebido con un diseño de vanguardia, que permite una panorámica en 360 grados del Parque Carén, de la Universidad de Chile. El Centro abarca un área de 1.065 m², con 544 m² dedicados al pilotaje y prototipaje, 110 m² de área para laboratorio de control de procesos, y 40 m² de bodegas, dejando un 10% de la superficie para oficinas y salas de reuniones. Seis líneas de producción 1.- Línea de desarrollo de salsas. Desarrollo de productos semi líquidos o viscosidad media a partir de materias primas hortofrutícolas y/o pecuarias. 2.- Línea de aceites. Extracción y estabilización de aceites de materias primas y subproductos de la cadena agroindustrial 3.- Línea de snacks extruidos. Desarrollo de nuevos productos tipo snacks, como cereales para el desayuno, soufflés, entre otros. 4.- Línea de aislados proteicos. Nuevas alternativas de aislados proteicos para desarrollo de nuevos productos, siguiendo tendencias plant based. 5.- Línea de ingredientes/colorantes. Desarrollo de ingredientes y aditivos 6.- Línea de fermentados. Nuevos productos con procesos de fermentación para desarrollo de productos simbióticos (prebióticos, probióticos). |
